VALA Events 2021: Leaning In Series

Join VALA Committee members Sae Ra Germaine and Michelle McLean for this Leaning In event. They will share the lessons they have learned writing papers and giving conference presentations both in person and online. Bring your own questions and your experiences to share in this casual and open conversation.

This 1-hour event will be run as a Zoom Meeting.

Topic: At the podium – Hints to help make your paper and presentation the best it can be.

Speaker: Michelle McLean

Michelle is Information Services Coordinator at Casey Cardinia Libraries and is involved in a number of library professional development organisations. She is a VALA Committee member, has presented at numerous conferences, including VALA since 2008 and has a passion for libraries, technology and professional development.

Speaker: Sae Ra Germaine

Sae Ra Germaine is Manager of Member & Academic Services at CAVAL, Vice-President of VALA and President of Linux Australia. She has been running many conferences on and offline since 2012 and has reviewed and presented sessions for even more conferences. Sae Ra recently ran the Online conference, linux.conf.au and helped many speakers move from the face to face environment to the online world.

Who should attend: 

  • Authors and presenters who have applied for or been accepted onto the VALA2022 Onsite or Online Program
  • Anyone interested in presenting at a VALA conference in future
  • Experienced and knowledgeable authors and presenters who are willing to discuss and share their wisdom and learnings.

The format of this meeting will be conversational, inclusive and personal.
