VALA Events 2021: Under the Hood with Princh

“Under the Hood” is a collaboration between VALA and members of our loyal vendor community to provide GLAM IT practitioners with a real look at the structure and mechanics of technology solutions, products and works in progress. This is not a sales pitch, but an opportunity to test drive, analyse and contribute to the development of real solutions for our industry.

Topic: Under the Hood with Princh

Princh is an incredibly simple, user-friendly cloud-based printing solution for libraries and higher education institutions that allows users to print and pay from their mobile devices, laptops, tablets and desktop PCs.

In this presentation, you will be introduced to the Princh library printing and payment solution. Guest speakers Vicky Woolbarn, Library Innovation Specialist and Thomas Ommen, CEO & Co-founder at Princh will outline the current benefits including how using the integrated electronic payment feature allows users to pay for printing with bank cards, mobile payment apps and cash without the need to set-up payment agreements or provide POS (point of sales) hardware to accept transactions. They’ll also explain how Princh’s printing solution doesn’t require user accounts, usernames, or passwords and is a beneficial service that benefits library staff, users and even the environment.

Vicky and Thomas will demonstrate how the cloud print connector means that Princh will work with any printers and alongside any other solutions that your library currently has. Since it is cloud based, it ensures installation can be done extremely quickly, plus will be carried out remotely by Princh. Princh works on both Windows and Linux systems and with only outbound ports required to be open (thus, no inbound ports), Princh has never been turned down by any IT department. This means that Princh is not only user-friendly for patrons and staff members, but also private and secure.

In 2022, Princh will release an updated Copy & Scan product, a solution which offers an intuitive wizard flow for users to follow. Uniquely, users will be forced to see a preview of their copy or scan job before completing the process. This will help prevent paper waste and significantly improve the user experience. To avoid spamming, when users choose scan to email, they will receive an email with a link in their inbox to access and download the requested document. The message is sent using Princh’s email server. This solution strikes the best possible balance between ease-of-use and optimal data security.
