Getting to Tech Camp 2023

Location

The 2023 VALA Tech Camp will be held at La Trobe University’s City campus, at Level 2, 360 Collins Street Melbourne.

The building is between Queen St and Elizabeth St and has two entrances, at 360 Collins St and on Little Collins St (still labelled on the building as 360 Collins St).  We recommend entering from the Little Collins St entrance; however instructions from both entrances are included below.

How to get to Tech Camp 2023

From Little Collins Street

  1. Look for the “360 – La Trobe University” sign at the corner of Little Collins Street and Briscoe Lane, next to a plaza / planted area with several shops.

2. Enter the plaza area and head towards the building at the back.   You will see another steel sign labelled “360 Collins” between some revolving doors.  At the left-most end of the building you will see some glass sliding doors (and La Trobe University signage above).  Enter through these doors.

Enter the plaza area and head towards the building at the back

3. You will now see a flight of stairs.  Around the stairs and to the left there is also a lift.  Use either to head up to Level 2.

4. You are now in the foyer for La Trobe University. Follow the VALA Tech Camp signs to Rooms 2.10, 2.11 and 2.15.

From Collins Street

  1. Enter the 360 Collins building, then walk around the concierge desk to reach the lift lobby.
  2. Look for the touchscreens at the ends of each set of lifts.  Use these to hail a lift by tapping the button for Level 2.  Follow onscreen instructions to find your allocated lift.
  3. Once you exit the lift, follow the signs to reach the Tech Camp venue

Lunch options

Lunch is not catered at Tech Camp 2023.

There are many eateries within a short walking distance of our venue, especially along Little Collins and Elizabeth Sts (including just outside the Little Collins St entrance to our venue).  These offer a range of cuisines as well as coffee. The Queen Victoria Market will also be open during our Tuesday session (18 July), and is a quick free tram ride away – great for both hot foods and deli/bakery/sashimi.

There is a lounge area with a filtered water fountain that Campers are welcome to use (help us create less waste by bringing your own cup or water bottle!).

Please note the coffee machines in the lounge are for student use only. Hot drinks will be provided at Morning Tea, or pick up your favourite order during lunchtime.
