NATURE OF THE AWARDThe Committee of VALA - Libraries, Technology and the Future, Inc. makes an award biennially to an individual or organisation who or which is, in the opinion of the judging panel, currently making an outstanding contribution to the development of information technology usage in Australian libraries and information services and is positively and significantly influencing development in information technology usage within libraries. The Award consists of a framed certificate and a gift (or gifts) to the value of $1,000 (one thousand dollars). The Robert D. Williamson Award is announced and presented at the VALA Conference Dinner on 10 February 2010. It is essential that nominees are NOT aware that they are being nominated for an award. Disclosure of a nomination may prejudice that nomination. Details of a nomination are only made public when a nomination is successful, and then only after presentation of the Award. Closing date for nominations: 15 November 2009. ELIGIBILITYAll individuals, libraries and information services in Australia are eligible for nomination for the Award. NOMINATIONSNominations may be made by staff or customers of libraries or information services, or by other interested persons. Nominations must include a typed statement on the appropriate form providing:
CONDITIONSThe VALA Committee will appoint the judging panel. Members of the judging panel will not be close colleagues of an individual being nominated for the Award, or be employed by libraries or information services being nominated for the Award. The Committee may decide not to make an Award in the event of there being no nominations deemed suitable in the opinion of the judging panel.
