Celebrating 30 Years of Looking Forward

Our Online Journey

Speakers: Elizabeth Drynan and Pamela Johnstone
Enterprise Information Management Pty Ltd, Sydney

Hear about the trials & tribulations, products & services, and current endeavours of the Enterprising librarians who brought you Online Currents for 20 years. If you have ever considered going it alone in the information world, or if you share their passion for online content, then please join us at the VALA Meeting on 25 June.

About the speakers:
Elizabeth Drynan and Pamela Johnstone are the joint winners of the Robert D. Williamson Award for 2008. Over twenty years ago, a group of dedicated librarians excited about the new online world, as well as the opportunities for libraries, to benefit from the new microcomputer-based technologies, set up a new company, Enterprise Information Management. They offered a range of services, such as information management consulting, advice on setting up libraries, automating catalogues, and creating online databases. They have a fantastic reputation as indexers, editors and thesaurus developers, and also created an important database for many years. But most of all Elizabeth and Pamela are admired and respected for the years spent publishing Online Currents - the only independent published source of information about the online industry in Australia since the 1980’s. Online Currents has reported on every new development in our industry, every database, new online services, CD-ROMS, and in more recent years search engines and websites.

This talk will follow the (brief) business of the Annual General Meeting of the Association.
