Notice of Meeting

Facebook Your Library

Hear about the why, why nots, how, and how not to introduce Facebook into your library.

With so much discussion in the media as to the benefits and pitfalls associated with Facebook, VALA is delighted to start its 2008 general meetings with a very topical discussion from two early adopters. Hear how two very different libraries faced the technical, organisational, staffing and client considerations when implementing and maintaining library services on Facebook.

Speakers:

Anne Holmes Manager Library Services - City of Boroondara Library Service
Anne is the Manager, Library Services at the City of Boroondara and is
an active participant in the Victorian library community. Anne is also the Secretary of Viclink.
Kat Clancy Deakin University
Kat is the Library Web Developer at Deakin University. In this position, Kat is responsible for the technical development and maintenance of the Library websites, and for providing Web Manager services for the library. In 2007, Deakin was one of the first libraries in the world to allow clients to link the library catalogue to their Facebook profile.
